- Mastered the dental vocabulary and terms used in dental office careers.
- Gained knowledge of basic head and neck anatomy and an understanding of the structure of permanent and primary teeth.
- Gained an understanding of dental practices such as infection control, examinations, radiography, tooth restorations, surgery and dental lab materials and procedures.
- Learned the procedures for reimbursement of dental services including the use of ADA codes, including the code subcategories which are necessary for understanding dental benefits and claims forms (patient payment and electronic filing).
- Learned the importance of customer service in the dental office including courtesy, patient relations, patient education/retention and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Mastered the importance of dental office business performance including the management of patient records, understanding dental business software, dental supplies and inventory and the marketing of dental practices.
